Little Rock, AR – August 25, 2026 – PathNet, one of the nation’s foremost pathology laboratories and largest independent urologic oncology pathology networks, announced it will offer PTEN and FGFR3 biomarker stains in-house in its laboratory. These assays measure the expression levels of the PTEN and FGFR3 proteins in prostate and bladder cancer patients to help guide treatment

Performed in-house by PathNet, the PTEN biomarker is used to determine PTEN protein loss in tumors of patients with prostate cancer, which is associated with tumor aggressiveness.

FGFR3 is used to determine the presence of the FGFR3 protein, a driver of alteration in papillary urothelial carcinoma. Adding PTEN and FGFR3 biomarkers to PathNet’s IHC offerings expands the company’s already strong urologic pathology offerings.

“Continually adding biomarker testing, such as PTEN and FGFR3, is integral to allowing the clinicians we serve to make treatment decisions backed with data from their patient’s individual cancer progression,” said Jason Camilletti, CEO of PathNet. “Bringing these biomarkers in-house allows us to better serve our clients and provide better patient care.”

The PTEN biomarker can be ordered conditionally based on clinician criteria or individually per case.  The FGFR3 biomarker is a pathologist-ordered stain to aid them in differentiating between low grade and high grade papillary urothelial carcinoma.
